The Frenchman Pass is a narrow passage near Spanish Lagoon. From the pass, you can see the remains of the Balashi Gold Mill. Around 1620 French pirates tried to invade Aruba but they encountered resistance from Indians who were trying to defend the pass. After this confrontation, the passage became known as Rooi Frances or Franse Pas (Frenchman Pass in English). This period of the history is not well documented, so it is not sure if it is just a legend or it actually happened.
